Student Support & Wellbeing

Our Approach

At Kennedy School, we believe every child is special and deserves a learning experience that's just right for them. We tailor our teaching and learning experiences to enable each child to flourish.  Our dedicated team is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.

Personalising Learning: At Kennedy School, our goal is to design lessons from the very start that work for all different kinds of learners, we don't just teach in one way. By understanding your children's unique strengths, interests, and challenges, we ensure every student has diverse options that allow them to grow in skill and independence.

Targeted Support: To meet the diverse needs of all our students, we use a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). Think of this as a pyramid of support that allows us to provide great teaching for everyone, plus extra help where needed for some and a few at the upper tiers of the triangle. This approach enables us to recognise and nurture each student's unique strengths and areas for development. We provide additional support in the classrooms or in dedicated spaces, sometimes in small groups or occasionally one-on-one, depending on your child's needs. Assistance is also provided by adding additional resources and support into the environment that all children can access. ESF has created this video which gives more detail. This whole system helps us ensure that all learners can access an engaging curriculum, feel a strong sense of belonging, make great progress in their learning, and are truly thriving as a result of their school experience.

Our Dedicated and Caring Staff: Our highly trained, compassionate staff are committed to fostering student well-being on a daily basis. This includes teachers and EAs in classrooms building strong, safe and respectful relationships with their students and specialist teachers within our Inclusion team, who help us meet the unique needs of children who are requiring additional support and interventions over and above the learning they are doing in class. Our Educational Assistants are also trained as Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSA) to help build students' confidence and resilience.

Therapy: We prioritise your child's overall well-being, offering social-emotional small group sessions, counselling, speech therapy and occupational therapy.

Supportive Community: We foster a nurturing environment where your child feels safe, respected, and inspired. Our strong parent-school partnership ensures your child's success.
