𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝟮 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 - 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗯𝗼𝘄
Year 2s to the rescue! When a terrible typhoon hit Hong Kong, the colours of the rainbow were scattered all over the city. The Year 2s went around Hong Kong to find and reunite the rainbow colours.
Well done Year 2!

At the Years 5 and 6 assembly this week, we welcomed Arthur Fang, who is a speech and language therapist at Kennedy School and also an expert in gaming addiction. Arthur spoke to the students about “hooks” - special techniques companies use to keep gamers playing and wanting more. He reminded us to keep a balanced digital diet and pointed out that even e-sports stars have to keep their mind, body and soul healthy to perform at their best. Thank you Arthur for opening our eyes!

As part of our Sharing The Planet unit of inquiry, all the Year 1s went on a trip with their parents to the HK Zoological and Botanical Gardens. They demonstrated what they learned about interacting with the environment and used their senses to appreciate nature. They also learned independence by planning and packing the correct clothes and equipment for the trip. Well done Year 1!

It’s all go in Year 6 this week! They have just returned from a week in the sun in Sai Kung and dived straight into new experiences in the dark - by visits to 黑暗中對話 Dialogue in the Dark (DID) and visits by the Discovery Dome HK Ltd mobile planetarium.
At DID, students navigated unfamiliar spaces in pure darkness, using sound, smell and touch. They learned braille and listened to stories of perseverance and courage by those who lost their sight.
Back at school, snuggled the darkness of an inflatable dome and gazing up into space, students learned about how technology has enabled space exploration like never before.
The funds for this event came from the Pyjama Dress Up Day, which took place in Term 1. Many thanks to the Kennedy School PTA for organising and making this happen!

The data that we collect will also support Hong Kong as it pitches itself against other international cities in the annual global #CityNatureChallenge.
Join us on our hunt! Download the #iNaturalist App, join the ESF Kennedy School City Nature Challenge 2025 group and start logging your finds! We will be watching closely to see who logs the most photos! Let’s celebrate the wonderful environment we live in!

He took on the role of Educational Assistant for the day, which was an auction prize from our PTA Quiz Night in February. He did a fabulous job and was a real role model for the Year 1s! The Year 5 students were very excited to welcome their parents into school for Year 5 Market Day where they showcased their learning in the unit of inquiry, How We Express Ourselves. Also known as the marketing unit, students learned about how businesses operate, how to find out what consumers need, and develop a product or service that fills the gap in the market. Each group presented their business idea to their happy audience of parents promoting their company's service or unique prototype. Parents were then invited to give their stamp of approval by 'buying' these products and services. They did such a great job that we expect to see a few of these products or services launched in the near future!

Year 2s to the rescue! When a terrible typhoon hit Hong Kong, the colours of the rainbow were scattered all over the city. The Year 2s went around Hong Kong to find and reunite the rainbow colours.

At the Years 5 and 6 assembly this week, we welcomed Arthur Fang, who is a speech and language therapist at Kennedy School and also an expert in gaming addiction. Arthur spoke to the students about “hooks” - special techniques companies use to keep gamers playing and wanting more. He reminded us to keep a balanced digital diet and pointed out that even e-sports stars have to keep their mind, body and soul healthy to perform at their best. Thank you Arthur for opening our eyes!

As part of our Sharing The Planet unit of inquiry, all the Year 1s went on a trip with their parents to the HK Zoological and Botanical Gardens. They demonstrated what they learned about interacting with the environment and used their senses to appreciate nature. They also learned independence by planning and packing the correct clothes and equipment for the trip. Well done Year 1!

It’s all go in Year 6 this week! They have just returned from a week in the sun in Sai Kung and dived straight into new experiences in the dark - by visits to 黑暗中對話 Dialogue in the Dark (DID) and visits by the Discovery Dome HK Ltd mobile planetarium.
At DID, students navigated unfamiliar spaces in pure darkness, using sound, smell and touch. They learned braille and listened to stories of perseverance and courage by those who lost their sight.
Back at school, snuggled the darkness of an inflatable dome and gazing up into space, students learned about how technology has enabled space exploration like never before.
The funds for this event came from the Pyjama Dress Up Day, which took place in Term 1. Many thanks to the Kennedy School PTA for organising and making this happen!

Let’s see how much wildlife we can spot! From now till Monday 5 May, everyone at Kennedy School is invited to join the #ESFCityNatureChallenge, an inter-school challenge to document wildlife around Hong Kong. It’s a great reason to get outside and hunt for wild plants and creatures big and small!
The data that we collect will also support Hong Kong as it pitches itself against other international cities in the annual global #CityNatureChallenge.

Last week, Keegan from 2D had an incredible day assisting Mrs McCready-Browne with her class in Year 1. He took on the role of Educational Assistant for the day, which was an auction prize from our PTA Quiz Night in February. He did a fabulous job and was a real role model for the Year 1s! The Year 5 students were very excited to welcome their parents into school for Year 5 Market Day where they showcased their learning in the unit of inquiry, How We Express Ourselves. Also known as the marketing unit, students learned about how businesses operate, how to find out what consumers need, and develop a product or service that fills the gap in the market. Each group presented their business idea to their happy audience of parents promoting their company's service or unique prototype. Parents were then invited to give their stamp of approval by 'buying' these products and services. They did such a great job that we expect to see a few of these products or services launched in the near future!
